Dr Rajay Narain
Cardiologist
St George’s University Hospital, London, UK

Dr Narain is the founder and Director of Global Health Alliance UK. He works as a Cardiologist at St. Georges University Hospital, London. He is the lead for MRCP exam teaching programmes at various UK hospitals. He has also set up India’s first Royal College of Physicians, London, endorsed MRCP PACES Course. He has been instrumental in designing the Foundation training program for Junior Doctors in the West Midlands in the UK.
Dr Narain has set up U.K. 1st Cardio Metabolic Clinic in the NHS, U.K. to look after high risk patients. Dr Narain is the Founder and Director of Global Health Alliance UK, which is a consortium of leading universities and hospitals of UK.
Dr Narain is a member of the EAPCI, EAPCR, and a Council member for Stroke at the European Society of Cardiology. Dr Narain was appointed as a working group member for Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases at the European Society of Cardiology & Founder Member of International Development Group of NHS, UK in recognition of his contribution to Global Health. He is also Advisor to many Government and Private Medical Institutions in India. He has presented papers at several National & International Conferences. He has to his credit publications & research projects in Cardiology which have been published in different medical journals.

Dr Mimi Chen

As one of our Clinical Champions, Mimi plans to increase awareness of diabetes management across different teams to encourage continuity in clinical care for diabetes patients when they are admitted for surgery. She will develop a fast-track referral pathways and individualised guidelines to ensure better diabetes management for surgical patients. Mimi is leading the peri-operative diabetes initiative in joint working with anaesthetists and surgeons to improve diabetes care for surgical patients.
Mimi is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at St George’s, in London. She studied for a PhD at University of Bristol, studying the effect of bariatric surgery on Type 2 diabetes and pancreatic function in patients with morbid obesity. She has published in high impact peer-reviewed journals and has written book chapters in the management of Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity.
At St George’s, Mimi leads the Medical Obesity Service and has expanded this service to include multi-disciplinary teams in medical and surgical obesity services. Mimi also optimises medical management for high-risk pre-operative patients with morbid obesity. She is also an avid clinical researcher running a
number of academic trials within St. George’s in collaboration with principal investigators from other top UK universities. Her team are one of the top recruiters for many of the ongoing diabetes clinical studies.

Prof. Derek Connolly
Consultant Interventional Cardiologist

Professor Derek Connolly is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and the Director of Research and Development at Birmingham City Hospital. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, University of Birmingham, UK.
He trained in Cambridge, London, Edinburgh and San Diego where he was a Carnegie Scholar. He has a first-class degree in Pharmacology from the University of Edinburgh where he was the Brunton medalist and Keasbey Bursary holder. His PhD in molecular cardiology is from the University of Cambridge. He is the Chief or Primary Investigator of multiple large trials in Cardiovascular medicine. He developed one of the UK’s first primary angioplasty programmes and one of the UK’s largest cardiac CT programmes.
